At the outset, I must confess that I'm a staunch advocate of Dan's. I had the privilege and pleasure of working with him on both of his political campaigns (as an eager volunteer), so reading about his after action assessments was of particular interest.This book uses an interesting device of weaving his NYPD, Secret Service and political experiences together to 1) comment on lessons he's learned about how we are currently governed by an insular elite political class and 2) how we can influence the political process to restore the role of the active citizen-voter.He continually reiterates several important themes about leadership and responsibility.He describes the Secret Service team approach in detail using numerous examples but notes distinctly that - "Divided labor is fine, but responsibility and accountability cannot be divided".In outlining the IRS targeting scandal, he highlights "the critical paradox of big government Liberalism: the larger the government grows, the more abusive it becomes, and the less accountable and manageable it becomes as well".Multiple examples chide President Obama for a lack of leadership because, as Dan defines it, "genuine leadership is not always making the right call but it is about taking responsibility for the calls that are made".His commentary about politics devolving into "two parallel universes in which the insider class and the average American exist separate and apart from one another" is sadly accurate. But his cogent analysis of how social media and big data are leveling the playing field is encouraging.He closes with an argument for not abandoning the Republican party for a third party alternative but to "organize the various activist wings and take it over from within".Finally, throughout the book, Dan models the challenge he extends on the final page - "We will have to accept a personal commitment to "do". It's the "do" that matters, not the talk".All in all, it's a compelling read... I finished it in two sittings since I couldn't put it down. Thanks Dan!
Great Read! If you ever wondered what these guys do & how they do it this is the book to read! Of course, he shares Nothing Confidential but really just gives us a peek into the Service as well as details whats right and what needs improvement within the bureau! Bongino is an amazing Patriot! Buy his books, Read them, Enjoy them & Learn more about Your Country! Side Note: I listen to his Podcast daily & it's great too! This former Secret Service agent Knows His Stuff and is Passionate about sharing (what he can!) to help us seek the truth amid so much corruption & disception these days. He is detailed and calls it as he sees it! Fearless!
I love Dan Bongino's books! He's the real deal! Maryland lost one of the absolute best by not electing him to Congress in 2014! I loved his first book, "Life Inside The Bubble," and had to pre-order "The Fight," which was even better than the first book, if that's even possible!! His words of wisdom can still be heard here in the D.C. Metro area on radio station WMAL at varying times, and as a contributor to FOX News, nationally. This book shows the failings of this administration, which hopefully will change this November! What a treasure Maryland could have had if he had been elected to Congress! Loved the book -- can't wait for the next one!
Love Dan Bongino! He is a conservative who is a former NYPD and Secret Service agent guarding Presidents for 12 years. Has a great Podcast I would recommend to anyone, even liberals, to listen too. He is a fact-oriented, no drama, no bull author and talk show host!
I've been listening to Mark Levin consistently for the last 4 or 5 months, and I love when Dan Bongino fills in. He explains everything in detail and really makes you think about issues that are so very important in our day. I bought this book a couple days ago and it arrived yesterday. I have only read the first chapter and so far it is exactly how I thought it would be. GREAT. I can't wait to read more of it. It's time we take action and fight for our freedom that we are losing on almost a daily basis.
Very interesting read. Several of my personal thoughts were confirmed in this book. One being the height of the fence surrounding the White House and other main security concerns/threats that should be addresses. The other was waste within the federal government. I definitely recommend this book.
Great Read. Enjoyed Dan's point of view. As a former Republican and now as someone who claims NO party affiliation, it was eye-opening to get this point of view on the inner workings of an "outside the establishment" campaign and the inner workings of the White House.
Dan Bongino is one the most talented talkers and put's it in words.He's been there and done that not a macho rendition of heroic deeds. Just how and what is done to protect our elected officials.Makes me proud to know men of this caliber are doing what they do.
