Arrived ahead of schedule and is just what my husband needs right now. He's seeking his Master's degree in psychology and doing his practicum at a Lutheran Family & Social Services Counseling facility. He always incorporates God into his counseling and this has some great perspectives and topics and ideas. Bringing psychology into the realm of faith-based learning is always difficult in today's society of "be careful what you say" so this book is a great tool for that.

This tome is filled with everything imaginable when it comes to helping people with their problems; and it comes from a Christian perspective. It doesn't have remedies such as "pray away the gay" or "just have faith." Rather, it educates the reader on the type and scope of mental illness and other conditions (domestic violence, homosexuality, drug abuse) and gives practical advice on how to counsel people with these problems. Highly recommended.

This book covers so many areas of life that people need counseling in with real illustrations and questions to help understand how to help people that come to you for help. In my pen-pal correspondence for several year with Christian in-mates in prison, it really has helped me know how to respond to them. One of my guys has helped so many others because I ordered copies of this book and Dr. Gary R. Collins Christian Counseling book for him years ago and he is still being a blessing to so many others.I highly recommend this book. Wanda

If you are interested being a better minister/pastor and being more prepared in the area of counseling but you are not able to go to college to take some short degree or something like that, this book will provide the basics and a little bit more soo you can be able to be a First Response Counselor.

This book was requested by my professor at a Bible college I attended, to use for my Christian counseling class. It is an excellent read not just for school but; as a guide to use on hand for those in ministry who provide counseling/spiritual guidance.

The book has a broken binding, not disclosed and is a lot o older than I thought, a 1988 copy right. The pages are turning yellow and the dook is starting to smell old and dusty mine of that was disclosed.

We are using this book as a supplement to our lay counseling training. It is written in plain English with a good summary at the end of each section. We have had additional training and experience for over 10 years in working with pre-marriage and troubled marriages which covers most every item in the book. We also have been Stephen Ministry Leaders dealing with same gender crisis people in all kinds of situation. This book is an excellent resource. We also received the product before the promised date from their vendor.Jane

This is a dense guide and very useful. I am going to be keeping it from college courses to hopefully when I am in practice!
