BJ Bourg has done it again with the newest installment with Clint Wolf andThe Crew. I was very pleased that not only did BJ Bourg bring back my favorite Characters but a great action filled, keep you on your toes, entertaining story all in one. I won't give away any of the storyline but suffice it to say BJ is an author worth reading because you will never find yourself disappointed with his writing. I highly recommend this book but if you want to get the full Wolf experience I would start at the beginning with But Not Forgotten. Enjoy! You won't have any regrets.

Well, Clint Wolf certainly returned with a bang! Excellent book, many twists and turns not expected! If you haven't read BJ Bourg yet, I would highly recommend and assure you that you are in for a real treat!

After reading the three book box set, I could not wait to start this one. Read it in two sittings. Eagerly waiting for the next Clint Wolf book. Definitely going to read other series from this author.

One of the problems of reading multiple mystery novels with the same primary characters is familiarity. In the Clint Wolf novels there are just two primary hero figures with a number of properly developed supporting characters. In addition, the action never leaves a rather familiar Louisiana location, a rather small town amid the swamps. It seems to me that when you have a limited number of primary characters and a focused setting the author has a uphill battle in trying to keep the reader's interest. Small towns are great if you don't expect more of them then they can offer. This can be overcome by adding more interesting characters and throwing in a outside trip or two into a otherwise monochromatic surrounding. Unfortunately, the author doesn't really move us out of the limited geographical construct of the small town except for a few quick runs up and down the highway to somewhat similar types of locales. In addition, the characters all seem to be locals so they seem to be popped out of a similar mold, although certainly not exactly the same. What tends to happen is that I felt that I was increasingly trapped. I started to yearn for the excitement of a big city, a Gulf Coast fishing town, the smell of tourist sunscreen, .... something. There wasn't any glamour either. I got the mental image of a setting where the characters needed a shower most of the time and a much bigger wardrobe. The author did a very good job developing each of the stories in the series. I just got the impression that he couldn't bring himself to leave his comfort zone of the small town. Isn't the point of a mystery to get us out of our comfort zones in as many ways as possible while keeping the reader's need to keep reading? The most successful writer in implementing scene and character changes in a series, in my humble opinion, is John MacDonald, the late, great writer of the Travis McGee series. Check out that series and I bet you can't read just one.

Very disappointing book. One dimensional characters, virtually no local Louisiana flavor included and plot tho started out OK turned into a mish-mash of improbable outcomes and motives. Some of the general writing was contradictory as well. In one instance a rookie deputy is horrified by a homicide scene and by the very next page is claiming how he loves this kind of police work. Speaking of rookie, as a police procedural many of the procedures followed do not ring true, some are patently incorrect. Dialog is pedestrian at best. Still I give it 2 stars and feel there may be some future potential for this author, this was a story that could have been saved but would have taken some doing.

I really liked the first three books in this series, but this one not so much. It seems simplistic, juvenile, or something. Something is just not right about the story, so it doesn't seem to just flow as a good read should.Besides the fact they create a position for him so his girlfriend won't be his boss, there are lots of little things that irritated me. Not sure I will read the rest of the series. This one sort of ruined it for me.

This book started out VERY slowly, but I toughed it out through the first three or four chapters and found myself intrigued.Fairly well edited for a Kindle book, I only found a few typos. If you're like me, though, and enjoy trying to solve the crime before the end of a book, this one will disappoint you. Much like some authors who introduce characters in the last chapter, the confession at the end of this book provides tons of information that is completely new. Even the detective in the story was shocked by all the new data he was getting. Nobody figured it out, not the characters in the story and much less the reader.

Just an okay book, it did not get interesting until around chapter 18,which was super disappointing. Too much trivial crap, daily things, repeats,The actual mystery was decent and it did get more interesting after chapter 18But this is not one I would recommend. It was also missing words, small wordslike A, and, or, ect.... and unbelievable is her fighting in a cage fight with a broken leg.
