This was such a fun read. The ugly duckling was a favorite read for me as a kid. I loved how the mc found a new family and she fought for them. She was tough in her own way and surprisingly optimistic despite her past. I'll definitely check out this author's other books.
loved the story! so glad Cyne was able to find her way along with her broodmates. most important takeaway was that beauty on the inside is the most beautiful trait to have. cyne was intelligent, determined, hard worker, and has compassion. she truly triumphed in light of her environment.
What an incredible, unique experience reading this book was. Part fantasy, part science fiction romance. Reverse Harem. And a retelling of The Ugly Duckling with wings! Great book. Loved it. Lots of heat but a sweet story
The storytelling is electric and laugh out loud funny. A fantastic reverse harem with a sexy and hot fairytale twist- highly recommended!
Nice book
A unique take on a fairytale that has few, if any, modern re-tellings. Of course, fairytale readers know that Cygne isn’t ugly, she’s simply been raised by a species of bird-like aliens (the Braccio) who look nothing like she does. Circumstances bring Cygne from her home in the forest to a city, where she meets five Olor males who look like she does. The Olor are also from a completely different planet, which helps to explain why Cygne would look so disparate from the Braccio.This is simply supposition on my part but one of the difficult things, in writing a reverse harem story, has to be the erotic scenes. The more men, the more hands and mouths .... how to keep straight which belongs to whom? The author handles these scenes exceptionally well, in part because the males are utterly invested in making Cygne feel good, both physically and mentally. (When you’ve spent your entire life believing that you were ugly, what better way to start to feel that you’re beautiful and desired?)As we learn more about the female Olor, on the home planet, I found myself pleased that Cygne was raised by a Braccio family. She’s sweet and selfless rather than spoiled and rude. I also enjoyed watching Cygne come into her own as the story moves along and she reaches inside herself to overcome her “ugly duckling†self-image. If she manages to kick some butt during the journey, so much the better!
I was not that happy when I picked this book up and saw it was a reverse harem. I have not really enjoyed those. I read it in one sitting. I was immediately drawn in. Cygne is our ugly duckling. meets her 5 hot men in an unlikely place. They go on a journey to learn that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I enjoyed the different take on this classic tale. I enjoyed their trials and tribulations. I really like the heroine, especially how she chose to act even though she was afraid. I think the writer did an excellent job differentiating the males. This is hard to do and I've been unsatisfied by other tales where the reverse harem aspect is not quite fleshed out. I've felt like the heroine doesn't give equal attention to all the men. This story did a great job and I would highly recommend it. I can't wait to read more books in the once upon a harem series!
This was a really good retelling of the Ugly Duckling. It was a good story and I mostly liked the characters. I didn't care for the way that no one told anyone anything. It could have saved a lot of misunderstandings without actually hurting the story. It was almost to the point of weird, the lack of communication. I'm not sure how she fell for the guys because they never actually talked to her about anything until the end. The sex scenes were hot until the end one left three of the guys and the reader hanging. Not sure what that was about! Despite these issues, there was a really good story here. The ugly duckling that finds her home, her family and herself. We had evil bad people and contests and general mayhem to go with the romance. It as well worth reading.
