We love Elsa Beskow! Her books are so sweet and the pictures are great. My kids each received one for Christmas, we also have quite a few others of hers. This one is a nice story about an elf who finds an orange though she thinks it is an egg from the sun. Her woodland friends all come together and figure out what it is. She then goes on a great adventure. My kids love the fairy/elf stories and this one doesn't disappoint. I just love the whimsical story line in her books! I definitely recommend any books by her!Just a disclaimer...the word stupid is used in the book so if this is a word that might bother your family you may want to pass on the book or skip that sentence. It is only used once.

We love this book and were shocked to see how tiny this one really is.. Yes, the description does gives measurements, but I didn't imagine a tiny one would be produced. This is not a good book for a tiny book. Illustrations and text are way too small. Skip the tiny one and find a decent sized book. Disappointed.

It's a tiny little book, about 5" x 7", and fits nicely in a young child's hands. The illustrations are endearing and crisp, but the story could use more plot and fewer incidental characters. Story in the book is fabulous and very imaginative. However this book is super tiny. Smaller than the toddler Dr. Suess books. Had I known this I wouldn't have bought it. The pictures are too small to really hold my toddlers interest for long.

I may be a little bit sensitive but this book has some mean fairies in it and uses the word "stupid" which I censor when I read it to my kids. I still read this book but it's a little bit long and not our favorite story.

Pretty cute story and great illustrations. My 5 year old really enjoyed it. We especially love the ending where we found out why oranges are sometimes dry when you peel them. My son has told lots of ppl this theory about fairies and I love that instills a little magic in kids. Keeper for sure.

Such a sweet book. My only cons is that the last few pages kind of feel like tangents.The very ending is eondergul, it just wasn't transitioned to smoothly.From a literary stand point it us rough.My 5yo did not mind. ;]Pros:-Very sweet story that uses something so familiar (an orange) and brings wonder to it.-it is a bit longer and more detailed than many children's books.Which we look for and really appreciate.-The artwork is breath taking.

I love Elsa Beskow's sheer tales about the little people in the forest. I was pleased to find them translated to English even though unfortunately Elsa's poetic narrative doesn't translate as nicely as I would have hoped. In Swedish it is pure magic. This particular item was a cute mini version of the book. Have never seen anything like that before, in Swedish they come in big rectangular shapes. These were more practical and still came with sturdy covers and Elsa's original illustrations.
